As the game’s narrative lead, Rouzié’s was responsible for establishing its overall narrative direction. This included carefully balancing the core elements of the long-running Castlevania IP with the creative vision laid out by the Creative Director and publisher. She defined the game’s setting, tone, core themes, player fantasy, and overarching narrative philosophy i.e. the extent to which the story would be “pushed” in a more directed fashion or “pulled” through player discovery.

Rouzié worked closely with Level Art and Character Art teams, offering proposals and feedback to ensure visual design aligned with established lore, tone, character sheets, and worldbuilding. The goal was to create a cohesive experience in which environments, characters, and story all reinforced one another.

With regards to narrative design, Rouzié created a diverse cast of 25 characters, including protagonist Trevor Belmont, developing their personalities, backstories, relationships, symbolic roles, and distinct voices. To deepen player immersion, she designed narrative systems that respond dynamically to player actions. These included dialogue systems, conditional logic systems, and quest structures covering both main and side content.

Her writing contributions span cinematics, in-game cutscenes, boss introductions and conclusions, character introductions, gameplay barks, item descriptions, and Codex entries.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is set for release later this year in 2026 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X|S.
