CD Projekt has ramped up development of Cyberpunk 2, though it won’t have anything new to show at The Game Awards 2025.
In its earnings presentation for the third quarter of 2025, CD Projekt that it has scaled up the development team at its Boston studio in order to accelerate the development of the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. By July 31, 2025, a total of 116 developers were working on Cyberpunk 2. As of October 31, 2025, this figure has been increased by 19, bringing the total to 135 developers.
Furthermore, Michał Nowakowski, Joint-CEO of CD Projekt, took to Twitter/X to express his happiness over The Witcher 4 receiving a nomination in the Most Anticipated Game category at The Game Awards 2025. He thanked everyone who has already voted for the game, and said that the continued support of fans means a lot of to him and everyone else at the studio.
Those expecting to get a glimpse of new footage from The Witcher 4 or a teaser for Cyberpunk 2 will undoubtedly be disappointed, however, as the CD Projekt executive also clarified that the studio won’t be bringing any new content to The Game Awards this year. That said, he added that him and the development teams are, as always, excited to watch the show and celebrate the industry’s great night alongside the fans.
During an interview in September, 2025, Keanu Reeves mentioned that he’s more than willing to be part of the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. “Absolutely. I’d love to play Johnny Silverhand again,” he said. Back in May, 2025, Cyberpunk universe creator Mike Pondsmith revealed that the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 will feature a new Chicago inspired city in addition to Night City. He mentioned that, in addition to Night Cit, the game will take players to a new city that doesn’t feel like Blade Runner and instead looks like a version of Chicago that’s “gone wrong”.
