After the Cyberpunk 2077 debacle, CD Projekt is hoping to win back some of its fans through its sequel as well as The Witcher 4.
During a recent interview, Pawel Sasko, the associate game director of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, shared his optimistic view with regards to winning back some of CD Projekt’s fans with the upcoming Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.
Sasko mentioned that getting CD Projekt’s original fan base might be a situation that never happens for some fans. However, he added that this is unfortunately the price the developer has to pay for what happened. He hopes that, throughout the work that CD Projekt is doing and the things it is showing, the studio can actually win some of those people around. When the development team hears someone talking to them about the incredible experiences they can have in, say, Phantom Liberty, the next Witcher title, the next Cyberpunk game, or the next Hadar (the studio’s new IP]), they see incredible value in the game, and they will actually reach out for it, play it, and enjoy it.
Previously, in its recent news update on its official website, CD Projekt Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski looked back at the first half of 2024. He stated that it carried on with its development work on upcoming releases, while engaging in activities which support sales of previously published games. Additionally, he revealed that, at the time, the development team was gearing up to begin the full-fledged production phase of The Witcher 4 (codenamed project Polaris). Nowakowski stated that work on project Polaris was coming along well, and its development team was nearing a major milestone which would mark the end of the pre-production phase. The first half of the year was also a busy period for CD Projekt’s Boston studio, which is laying the groundwork for project Orion, a brand new title set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.
