Fans of Chainsaw Man will not have to wait much longer for the franchise’s big-screen debut. The upcoming anime film, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, is officially scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 24, 2025. According to reports, the runtime will be approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.
The film is a direct continuation of the first season of the anime series and adapts the popular “Reze Arc” from Tatsuki Fujimoto’s original manga. Produced by MAPPA, it is directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara with a screenplay penned by Hiroshi Seko, both of whom previously worked on the anime adaptation.
In Japan, the movie will debut earlier on September 19, 2025, distributed by Toho. Internationally, Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Releasing are handling distribution. Select Asian markets will begin screenings from September 24, with the global rollout reaching audiences in late October.
Chainsaw Man has quickly grown into one of the most successful manga and anime franchises of the modern era. The series follows Denji, a downtrodden teenager who gains the powers of the Chainsaw Devil after fusing with his companion Pochita. With his newfound abilities, he joins the Public Safety Devil Hunters, facing violent battles against Devils that embody humanity’s darkest fears. The Reze storyline introduces new characters and expands the emotional stakes, making it a pivotal moment in the narrative.
Since its debut in 2018, the manga has become a cultural phenomenon. By late 2024, it had over 30 million copies in circulation worldwide, earning multiple awards including the Shogakukan Manga Award and the Harvey Award for Best Manga three years in a row. The anime adaptation by MAPPA, which aired in 2022, further elevated its popularity with high production values and uncompromising intensity.
