The Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc continues its impressive theatrical run, achieving a new milestone at the U.S. box office by surpassing Dragon Ball Super: Broly to become the sixth highest-grossing anime film in American history. Despite a slower Halloween weekend, the film managed to earn an additional 6 million during its second three-day weekend, marking a 66.7 percent decline from its opening. This still places it ahead of other major anime releases at the same stage, including Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which earned 4.6 million in its second weekend, and Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which earned 6.5 million.
With a total of 30.8 million accumulated domestically, Chainsaw Man The Reze Arc has now outperformed Dragon Ball Super: Broly’s 30.7 million lifetime gross and is projected to close its U.S. run between 40 and 45 million. The success highlights the increasing impact of anime cinema in North America, where recent theatrical releases have started to compete with major Hollywood titles in both cultural significance and box office earnings.
In Japan, the film remains a strong performer, earning an estimated 2.9 million over the October 31 to November 2 weekend. Its cumulative earnings now stand at approximately 51.45 million, or 7.85 billion yen, reflecting a 10 percent increase from the previous week. This continued domestic interest aligns with the strong reception the film has received for its faithful adaptation of one of Chainsaw Man’s most emotional and violent storylines.
The Reze Arc focuses on Denji’s fleeting yet heartfelt romance with Reze, a mysterious girl who offers him a chance at an ordinary life, only to later reveal herself as the Bomb Devil and a Soviet assassin seeking to claim his heart for the Gun Devil. Their tragic relationship culminates in a devastating battle, concluding with Reze’s death at the hands of Makima before she can reunite with Denji. This arc, known for its emotional intensity and explosive combat, has long been regarded as one of the manga’s most defining narratives.
Meanwhile, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle continues to dominate global box office charts, closing in on the 700 million mark worldwide. The film has grossed an estimated 253.7 million in Japan, equivalent to 37.46 billion yen, maintaining its position as the second highest-grossing film ever in the country both in terms of revenue and admissions, with over 26 million tickets sold. Internationally, it has earned roughly 133 million in the United States and 289 million across other territories, bringing its global cumulative total to approximately 675.8 million.
The ongoing success of Infinity Castle is particularly notable, as it has surpassed the total global revenue of every comic book adaptation released this year, including major Marvel and DC films, as well as recent blockbusters featuring stars like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. As it approaches the 700 million threshold, Demon Slayer continues to solidify its place as a cornerstone of modern anime cinema, setting a high bar for future adaptations.
Both Chainsaw Man The Reze Arc and Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle demonstrate the continuing rise of anime as a dominant force in global entertainment. With Chainsaw Man already exceeding expectations and Demon Slayer breaking record after record, 2025 may well be remembered as one of the defining years for anime films at the box office.
