Chainsaw Man The Movie: The Reze Arc has achieved a remarkable box office milestone, officially surpassing Dragon Ball Super: Broly to become the sixth highest-grossing anime film ever released in the United States. Following a somewhat modest Halloween Friday, the film rebounded strongly over the weekend, grossing $6 million in its second three-day frame. Although that figure represents a 66.7 percent decline from its opening, the performance remains impressive when compared with similar second-week drops of major anime releases such as Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which fell 74.5 and 69.5 percent respectively during their sophomore weekends.

This latest weekend’s earnings pushed the domestic cumulative total for Chainsaw Man The Reze Arc to $30.8 million, edging past Dragon Ball Super: Broly’s $30.7 million lifetime haul. The film now holds the title of the sixth highest-grossing anime film of all time in the U.S., and analysts expect it to finish with a domestic total between $40 and $45 million. Internationally, the film’s success is equally impressive, accumulating an estimated $57.2 million overseas for a worldwide total of roughly $139 million. This achievement places it within the all-time top twenty highest-grossing anime films globally, surpassing both Pokémon: The Movie 2000 and Studio Ghibli’s The Wind Rises.

In Japan, Chainsaw Man The Reze Arc continues its strong run, grossing an estimated $3 million in its seventh three-day weekend—a notable 20 percent increase over the previous weekend. Its domestic earnings have now reached approximately ¥7.84 billion (around $51 million), crossing five million admissions and securing a place among Japan’s top one hundred highest-grossing films at number ninety-two. This milestone puts it ahead of Studio Ghibli’s Tales from Earthsea.

Adapted from Tatsuki Fujimoto’s acclaimed manga, the Reze Arc centers on Denji’s fleeting romance with Reze, a mysterious woman who turns out to be the Bomb Devil and a Soviet assassin sent to claim Denji’s heart for the Gun Devil. The story balances moments of tenderness and heartbreak with explosive, visceral action, culminating in a tragic finale orchestrated by Makima. Its emotionally charged narrative has resonated deeply with audiences, contributing to its sustained theatrical success.

Meanwhile, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle continues to dominate the global box office. Now at approximately $675.8 million worldwide, the film has outperformed every comic book release of the year from both Marvel and DC, as well as major Hollywood titles starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. In Japan, it has grossed an estimated ¥37.46 billion ($253.7 million) after sixteen weekends, maintaining its position as the second highest-grossing film of all time in the country, both in revenue and admissions.

The Infinity Castle storyline marks the beginning of the final battle in the Demon Slayer saga, with the Demon Slayer Corps confronting Muzan Kibutsuji within his shifting fortress. The film delivers an emotionally charged sequence of battles against the Upper Rank demons, each revealing haunting human backstories while escalating toward a climactic confrontation.
