Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 & Metaphor: ReFantazio Will Allegedly Receive Nintendo Switch 2 Ports In 2026

Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Atlus’ Metaphor: ReFantazio are set to receive Nintendo Switch 2 ports in 2026, it is claimed.

In the latest episode of his podcast, insider and content creator Nate the Hate claimed that Nintendo’s momentum with the Switch 2 this year will be driven largely by high-profile third-party releases, including major RPG ports. He mentioned several games that are either confirmed internally or strongly under consideration for release on the platform in 2026.

According to Nate,  Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, last year’s breakout role-playing game that dominated conversation throughout last year, “will be coming to Switch 2 in 2026.” He also claimed that Atlus is preparing to bring Metaphor: ReFantazio to Switch 2 later this year. Given that the publisher is already in strong support of Nintendo hardware, particularly with Persona titles, this would not come as surprising.

Furthermore, the insider claimed that Square Enix is considering a Nintendo Switch 2 port of Final Fantasy XVI. “Another game from Square Enix that I’ve heard is under consideration… is Final Fantasy XVI,” he explained, adding that it previously wasn’t feasible, as the company was prioritizing the Final Fantasy VII Remake port at the time. “Now that that’s out, they must view that there is… a market or at least a possibility to bring 16 to the platform and find success.” While Nate cautioned that the game may not release in 2026, he suggested an announcement this year wouldn’t be surprising.

Back in June, 2025, during an episode of Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer, Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida and creative director Kazutoyo Maehiro hinted that a Nintendo Switch 2 port of the game is currently in development. After they finished showing the game in action on the Xbox Series X|S, Yoshida mentioned, “Just Nintendo-san left”, to which Maehiro responded by saying, “I will do my best.”
