Bandai Namco’s upcoming action RPG, Code Vein II, has been officially rated Advisory 16 (Suitable for 16 and above) in Singapore by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). Alongside the rating, new details about the game’s storyline, mechanics, and thematic content have been disclosed, offering fans a clearer glimpse of what to expect from the sequel.
The rating confirms that Code Vein II will feature a narrative centered on a catastrophic event known as Luna Rapacis, which has transformed many of the world’s inhabitants into monstrous creatures. Players will step into the role of a Revenant embarking on a journey through time with a mysterious girl named Lou, whose time manipulation abilities open up new narrative possibilities. Together, they will alter key moments in history to uncover hidden truths and prevent the collapse of the present world.
Gameplay remains rooted in third-person exploration and combat, but with expanded mechanics. Players can wield melee and ranged weapons, as well as spells, against an array of humanoid, robotic, and monstrous enemies. Combat includes the return of the franchise’s signature blood-draining system, alongside a new build customization system designed to allow deeper experimentation with weapons and abilities. Partner characters, or Revenants, continue to play a central role, providing combat assistance and the option to combine powers for devastating attacks.
The IMDA’s report highlights combat intensity, describing frequent slashing and striking accompanied by impact sounds, light flashes, and blood effects. Some narrative scenes depict characters being implied to suffer beheading, heart extraction, or impalement, though without excessively graphic detail. Under the ADV16 guidelines, such depictions fall within the permitted category of realistic but not overly explicit violence.
The advisory also references portrayals of voluptuous female characters in tight or revealing clothing, along with mildly suggestive moments, such as a scene where one character climbs atop another in bed to bite their neck. Coarse language, including “a*s,” “b*stard,” “b*tch,” and “damn” will also feature in dialogue.
Developed by Bandai Namco Studios and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Code Vein II builds on the cult success of the original with a more ambitious scope, weaving its vampire-themed action with a bold time-travel mechanic. While the game does not yet have a confirmed release date, the recent rating suggests an announcement is due soon.
