Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming action role-playing game, Control Resonant, takes inspiration from the likes of X-Files, The Southern Reach & Neon Genesis Evangelion.
In a new video on TikTok (via the Reset Era forums), Remedy Entertainment has revealed that Control Resonant takes inspiration from many sources, including X-Files, The Southern Reach & Neon Genesis Evangelion. What sort of influences these works bring to the upcoming action role-playing game remains to be seen. Fans won’t have to wait too long to find out, as according to a company report from Inderes, the game’s planned release window is Q2 2026.
However, the report does acknowledge that a slip into Q3 remains possible until the schedule is fully confirmed. The earlier-than-expected launch has prompted Inderes to raise its target price for Remedy’s stock to 19.0 Euros, up from 17.0 Euros.
Control Resonant was officially unveiled at The Game Awards 2025, where Remedy Entertainment confirmed it as the sequel to Control. The game is set in an open-world version of Manhattan, with players taking on the role of Dylan Faden, the sibling of Control protagonist Jesse Faden. As per the developer, newcomers will be able to jump into the sequel without having played the original. The game is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and Mac. Remedy Entertainment will publish the game itself, while Annapurna Pictures will co-finance and co-produce the project as part of the companies’ previously announced strategic partnership.
The report estimates that Control Resonant will sell around 1.8 million copies in 2026 and approximately 2.2 million copies in 2027. As a result, Remedy Entertainment’s projected revenue for 2026–2027 is expected to exceed 120 million Euros, with EBITDA reaching slightly above 20 million Euros. Inderes also clarified that Annapurna’s share of sales will flow through Remedy’s income statement, increasing reported revenue but also appearing as an expense, leaving net returns largely unchanged.
