Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that Control Ultimate Edition and Alan Wake 2 will support an improved version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution on PlayStation 5 Pro. The developer shared the update through its official social media channels, noting that the upgraded technology will soon be available to all PS5 Pro owners.

According to Remedy, the new version of the upscaling technology is designed to deliver clearer motion and improved image stability compared to the current implementation. In its announcement, the studio said, “CONTROL Ultimate Edition and Alan Wake 2 will support new PSSR.” The developer added that “this more advanced version of PSSR will soon be available to all PlayStation 5 Pro owners, bringing noticeable improvements in image stability clarity of motion.”

Control Ultimate Edition remains the definitive version of Remedy’s supernatural action adventure, placing players in the role of Jesse Faden as she assumes the position of Director at the Federal Bureau of Control. Set within the constantly shifting interior of the Oldest House, the game blends physics-driven combat with telekinetic abilities. The Ultimate Edition includes both The Foundation and AWE expansions, the latter connecting the events of Control with the broader Alan Wake storyline.

Alan Wake 2, released later, marked a significant shift in tone and genre for the series by leaning fully into survival horror. The narrative alternates between Alan Wake, who remains trapped within the surreal Dark Place, and FBI profiler Saga Anderson, who investigates ritualistic murders in the Pacific Northwest. The game is widely recognized for its advanced lighting and atmospheric design, along with mechanics such as the Mind Place and the Writer’s Room, which allow players to organize clues and reshape elements of the story.

With the upcoming PSSR improvements on PS5 Pro, both titles are expected to benefit from enhanced visual clarity and smoother presentation when played on Sony’s upgraded console hardware.
