New details about Crimson Desert have emerged ahead of its launch later this month, including confirmation that the PlayStation 5 Pro version will utilize PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution technology. Additional information regarding the game’s file size and achievements has also surfaced online.

In a recent preview published on the PlayStation Blog, contributor Phil Hornshaw discussed how developer Pearl Abyss has optimized the game for Sony’s hardware. The studio reportedly implemented several rendering techniques on PlayStation 5 to maintain visual fidelity across the game’s large-scale environments.

“Pearl Abyss also told me it optimized Crimson Desert for the PS5 through a number of features to help maintain all that detail at its large scale, making use of Geometry Shader Oversubscription and NGG Culling to render lots of elements without losing detail.”

The preview also highlights improvements available on PlayStation 5 Pro. According to the report, the enhanced console will take advantage of the recently introduced PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution technology to improve performance while maintaining high image quality.

“On PS5 Pro, the recent upgrade to PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) makes it possible for Crimson Desert to hit 4K resolutions at higher frame rates, and its raytracing capabilities make lighting effects more realistic and natural.”

Separate information about the game’s install size has appeared through a user on Reddit who claimed to have access to the Steam review version ahead of the embargo lift. According to the post, the PC build requires approximately 121 GB of storage space. The same user also stated that the game will feature a total of 34 achievements.

The user wrote that further details about the game cannot be shared until the review embargo lifts on March 18, though they indicated plans to provide additional information after that date.

Crimson Desert is developed and published by Pearl Abyss and is scheduled to launch globally on March 19, 2026. Built using the studio’s BlackSpace Engine, the open-world action adventure title will release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as macOS.

The game follows the mercenary Kliff and his surviving Greymanes as they attempt to navigate the conflict across the continent of Pywel after a devastating ambush by the rival Black Bear faction. Gameplay focuses on a systemic open world design featuring melee combat, large boss encounters, and a variety of side activities, including dragon riding, fishing, and arm wrestling.
