Paradox Interactive has released update 1.17.0.1 for Crusader Kings III, addressing several issues from the recently launched Coronations DLC. The update comes alongside a personal apology from the studio’s QA Manager, acknowledging the shortcomings of the expansion and promising better resource allocation for future content.
The patch focuses on fixing problems tied to oaths, balancing building requirements, and improving AI decision-making. Players can expect more reasonable requirements for oath completion, extended time limits, and adjustments to both costs and modifiers. The update also resolves multiple bugs, ensuring a smoother gameplay experience.

Bug Fixes and Adjustments:
- Fixed the issue where players always received the Oathbreaker event, regardless of oath completion.
- Changed building requirements for three “build special oath buildings” oaths from tier 3 to tier 2.
- Reduced costs and modifiers for special oath buildings.
- Simplified triggers for special oath buildings, lowering requirements.
- Increased time to complete these oaths from 10 years to 20 years.
- Adjusted spiritual oath requirements, switching tier 3 to tier 2 and vice versa.
- Changed Alliance oath requirement from 5 alliances to 3.
- Reduced Building Oath requirement from 10 buildings to 8, with the time limit raised from 15 years to 20.
- Legendary Hunt requirement lowered from 3 to 1, with the time limit extended from 20 years to 40.
- Fixed Prepare Heir oath decision to check the correct scope and removed gold cost.
- Added new AI modifiers: warlike oaths increase war chance, peace oaths reduce it.
- Removed health bonuses and maluses from Prepare the Heir rewards.
- Improved AI checks so they select oaths logically.
- Fixed End the Struggle oath to correctly display its target struggle area and extended time from 20 to 50 years.
- Increased Repent Oath duration from 10 years to 20 years.
- Fixed Anointment Doctrines and Anointment activity type availability, restricting them to Spiritual HoF faiths only.
- Fixed duplication bugs and self-crowning malus for temporal HoF coronation hosts.
