Spike Chunsoft has announced that the Danganronpa video game series has surpassed 10 million units shipped worldwide, marking a major milestone for the long-running franchise. The figure covers all five released titles and reflects shipments as of December 10, 2025.
The sales achievement arrives during a celebratory period for the series, which marked its 15th anniversary earlier this year. Danganronpa first debuted in Japan on November 25, 2010, with the release of Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc on PSP. What began as a niche visual novel with courtroom-inspired gameplay has since grown into one of the most recognizable franchises in the genre.
Over the years, the series has expanded to include three mainline entries and two spin-off titles across multiple platforms. Its distinctive blend of murder mystery storytelling, high-pressure class trials, and stylized presentation helped it reach audiences well beyond its original handheld release. That popularity also carried the franchise into other forms of media, including anime adaptations, manga, novels, stage productions, and a wide range of licensed merchandise.
Looking ahead, Spike Chunsoft confirmed that the next major entry, Danganronpa 2×2, is scheduled to launch in 2026. The upcoming release is planned for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam. According to the publisher, the game will feature an entirely new scenario alongside a newly revamped version of the original storyline from Danganronpa 2 Goodbye Despair, blending fresh content with a reimagined take on one of the series’ most popular entries.
Spike Chunsoft stated that it intends to continue expanding and supporting the Danganronpa franchise through future projects and initiatives. With 10 million units shipped worldwide and a new release on the horizon, the series remains one of the publisher’s most successful and enduring properties.
