Darkest Dungeon 2 Console Release Planned, But No Details Yet

The console release of Red Hook Studios’ role-playing game, Darkest Dungeon 2, is planned for sometime in the future, but no further details are currently available.

In response to a tweet inquiring about the console release for Darkest Dungeon 2, the series’ official Twitter account stated that there are a lot of fans playing the original game on consoles, and, as such, the developer will definitely be making the sequel available there as well.

However, the developer added that it is not yet ready to confirm specific platforms or dates beyond confirming that console releases will follow the May 1.0 release. Based on this information, it appears that the console version of Darkest Dungeon II will be announced sooner rather than later.

Darkest Dungeon II, developed and published by Red Hook Studios, is the sequel to the original Darkest Dungeon. The game initially launched in early access for Microsoft Windows in October 2021 and later saw its full release in May 2023. In a similar vein to its predecessor, Darkest Dungeon II combines role-playing elements with rogue-like mechanics. Players will encounter a diverse cast of characters, each possessing their own unique strengths and abilities. These characters can be equipped with trinkets and combat items to enhance their capabilities. The primary mode of transportation is the stagecoach, which serves as the main means of navigating the game’s world.

The main objective is to reach a menacing mountain, the source of the malevolence that has plagued the land. Along the way, players will come across various points of interest and obstacles, engaging in turn-based combat encounters. Proper positioning of heroes is crucial, as certain skills can only be utilized when they are in the correct spot. Additionally, while exploring the world, players can visit the Shrines of Reflection to delve deeper into the backstories of the game’s characters.
