With the launch of Days Gone Remastered fast approaching on April 25, Bend Studio has shared a comprehensive breakdown of what players can expect in terms of technical improvements for PlayStation 5 and PC. Update 1.08 introduces a range of enhancements designed to make this the most visually refined version of the game to date.
On the standard PlayStation 5 console, players will be able to toggle between two graphical modes at launch. The Performance setting delivers 1440p resolution targeting 60 frames per second, while the Quality mode offers native 4K at a targeted 30 frames per second. A 40FPS mode is also in development and is expected to be added in a future patch. The PS5 version uses native resolution rendering, unlike the checkerboard rendering utilized on PS4, and aligns with the highest visual settings available on the PC version.
For those with a PlayStation 5 Pro, three visual options will be available: Performance mode runs at 1800p with a target of 60FPS, Quality mode pushes to 2880p with a target of 30FPS and downscales from above 4K, and the Enhanced mode delivers 1584p at 60FPS using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). All display modes for both PS5 and PS5 Pro will output at 4K resolution.
Across both versions of the PS5, Days Gone Remastered will include improved lighting and graphical fidelity. Key upgrades include a new atmospheric and sky simulation that relies on ozone and spectral light models, providing richer color tones and more realistic sunlight. Nights will be noticeably darker, and the shadowmap resolution has been doubled for more detailed shadows. Improvements to ambient occlusion and screen space indirect lighting have also been implemented.
PC players are not being left behind. Update 1.08 brings a host of visual and functional enhancements to the PC version as well. These include DualSense controller haptic feedback support, expanded accessibility features, and the same environmental upgrades seen on console. Players with the Shadow Quality setting at “Highest” will see doubled shadow resolution as part of the improvements.
Furthermore, the upcoming Broken Road DLC will be available for PC players at a cost of 10 USD. This content introduces new gameplay features such as Horde Assault, a survival-focused arcade mode, along with Permadeath and Speedrun modes. The DLC also adds an enhanced Photo Mode, allowing for more in-depth captures of the game’s updated visuals.
