DC Studios has released the first official trailer for Supergirl, marking the formal start of promotion for the next theatrical entry in the new DC Universe. Framed with the tagline “Truth. Justice. Whatever,” the trailer arrives as Warner Bros. Pictures prepares for the film’s global launch on June 26, 2026. The project features Milly Alcock in the dual role of Supergirl and Kara Zor El, establishing the tone for a story that takes the character in a more hardened direction compared to earlier portrayals.
Directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira, the film follows Kara Zor El as she confronts an unexpected and ruthless threat that strikes close to her home. Reluctantly, she teams up with an unlikely companion for an interstellar journey driven by vengeance and justice. The cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa, who appears in a notable role tied to the story’s cosmic arc.
The project is produced by DC Studios co-heads Peter Safran and James Gunn, with executive production support from Nigel Gostelow, Chantal Nong Vo, and Lars P. Winther. Behind the scenes, Gillespie is joined by director of photography Rob Hardy, production designer Neil Lamont, editor Tatiana S. Riegel, costume designer Anna B. Sheppard, visual effects supervisor Geoffrey Baumann, and composer Ramin Djawadi. Warner Bros. will distribute the film in theaters and IMAX across North America on June 26, 2026, with international rollout beginning June 24.
The film, subtitled Woman of Tomorrow, is positioned as the second feature in the emerging DC Universe and draws inspiration from the acclaimed comic miniseries by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.
With the release of its first trailer, Supergirl now moves into the forefront of DC’s 2026 slate, setting expectations for a version of Kara Zor El defined by resilience, conflict, and a broader cosmic scope.
