Dead by Daylight 9.4.0 PTB Patch Notes Introduce The First

The Dead by Daylight 9.4.0 PTB delivers a substantial wave of testable content, headlined by a new Killer, two new Survivors, and major expansions to the 2v8 experience. Players testing the PTB gain full access to unlocked characters, perks, items, and currencies, allowing focused evaluation of new mechanics, balance changes, and experimental features.

Alongside new characters and perks, the update introduces gameplay features such as Visual Terror Radius improvements, cooperative healing changes, tonics, new maps, and extensive class updates for 2v8. A wide range of bug fixes and system improvements round out the PTB, targeting stability, audio, bots, UI, and environmental issues.

Killer Abilities

  • Vine Attack
    • Charge and activate to create a ground based area of effect
    • Survivors caught gain a Worldbreaker token
  • The Upside Down and Undergate
    • Enter The Upside Down to traverse the map quickly
    • Activate Undergate to return to the map with a large area of effect
    • Survivors hit gain two Worldbreaker tokens

Worldbreaker and Grandfather Clocks

  • Worldbreaker activates once Survivors gain enough tokens
  • Vine Attack and Undergate deal damage instead of applying tokens during Worldbreaker
  • Four Grandfather Clocks activate across the map
  • Survivors can interact with clocks to accelerate the Worldbreaker timer
  • Duration scales based on the number of Survivors alive

New Killer Perks

  • Turn Back the Clock
    • After hooking a Survivor, activate to explode a nearby generator
    • Generator loses 10 percent progress and begins regressing
  • Secret Project
    • Cleansing or blessing a totem blocks a random generator
    • Gain Undetectable when one or more generators are blocked
  • Hex: Hive Mind
    • First hook converts a Dull Totem into a Hex Totem
    • Generator auras reveal repair progress
    • Final generators explode, lose progress, and regress when one remains

Dustin Henderson

  • Bada Bada Boom
    • Trap windows after repairing generators
    • Killer vaulting the window is hindered
  • Change of Plan
    • Convert a Toolbox into a Med-kit using tokens while in a locker
  • Teamwork: Full Circuit
    • Increases Good Skill Check size and repair speed when repairing together

  • Extrasensory Perception
    • Crouching reveals auras in an expanding radius
    • Grants Elusive and Oblivious with cooldown
  • We See You
    • Gain tokens when aura is revealed
    • Spend tokens to reveal the Killer’s aura to Survivors

    • Reduces generator repair noise range
    • Grants repair speed bonus when repairing together

Known Issues

  • New Survivor voiceover lines are unavailable during the PTB
  • Missing interaction cooldown after Undergate emergence will be corrected for release

The Dead by Daylight 9.4.0 PTB runs from January 6 to January 13, 2026, with 2v8 content becoming available on January 8. The PTB includes automatic unlocks, preloaded items, and test currencies for all participants.
