Sony Interactive Entertainment and Kojima Productions’ action-adventure game, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, is out and in the hands of fans, who have been hard at work discovering all the Easter eggs that are hidden in the game. We’ve put together some of the standout ones you may have missed during your playthrough.
Whether it’s bizarre cameo appearances, instances of breaking the fourth wall, unexpected jumpscare moments, comical segments, or secret weapons, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach features a highly entertaining selection of Easter eggs. Read ahead to learn about the ones that stood out to us.

1. Birthday Greetings
When booting up Death Stranding 2: On the Beach for the first time, the game asks players to enter their date of birth. If it matches the PS5’s system date, a cutscene is triggered when Sam visits his private room. Several of the game’s central characters are there to break the fourth wall, and wish you, the player, a happy birthday.
Similarly, other NPCs during Sam’s travels will also wish him a happy birthday when he waves at them.
2. The Randomness of Dollman
Players will encounter a bunch of Easter Eggs involving the character Dollman in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. One of our favorites is a theater-esque dance sequence involving a whole ensemble of dancing Dollmans.
Another Easter Egg involving Dollman is when he shares a moment with Sam at the hot spring, as the two singalong together. A similar sequence with Sam was also present in the original Death Stranding.
Should Sam decide to throw Dollman around, he will initially take it lightly. However, continuing to do so many times will upset him, and he will express his anger by giving Sam a piece of his mind.
3. Surprise Cameos
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach features several surprise cameos, but the ones that surprised us the most were the appearances of filmmaker Mike Flanagan and Ghost in the Shell director Mamoru Oshii. The latter has Sam deliver a gourmet pizza and a large calibre handgun to Japanese virtual YouTuber Usada Pekora, who rewards him with a silenced assault rifle.
4. Nod to Elle Fanning
During a cutscene involving a conversation between Sam and Dollman, the latter tells him about a film titled Mary Shelley, starring Elle Fanning in the lead role. He wonders where he’s heard the actress’ name before. For those who aren’t aware, she plays the role of Tomorrow in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
5. Elder Jumpscare
A cutscene randomly triggers when Sam visits his private quarters. As he wakes up during sleep, he sees a mysterious figure dancing naked under a spotlight. A jumpscare moment ensues, revealing the identity of the unknown entity. It turns out to be the elder from the original Death Stranding.
5. Sam Dreams of Lou
Occasionally when Sam dozes off during his travels, he’ll venture into an emotional dream sequence where a fairy-like version of Lou flies around him, reminding him just how much he misses being with her.
6. Sam Calls It Quits
During the opening conversation between Sam and Fragile, if the player chooses to exhaust the top-most dialogue choices that begin with “Why me?”, they’ll eventually end up with the option to choose “I won’t do it”. Opting to do so will result in the intro sequence starting over, and, should the player pick the same dialogue choice, it will continue to repeat a couple of times until the option to call it quits is no longer available.
7. Kojima Productions’ Date of Birth
A date randomly seen in Death Stranding: On the Beach dates back to when Kojima Productions was originally formed as a subsidiary of Konami. The date is none other than April 1, 2005.
There are just some of the prominent Easter eggs discovered in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach so far. We look forward to seeing what players uncover in the days and weeks to come.
