Details regarding the review embargo for Kojima Productions upcoming action-adventure game, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, have been revealed.
Fans of the original can look forward to hearing what critics have to say about Sam Porter Bridges’ next adventure, which is set primarily in two different locations, namely Mexico and Australia.

What Is the Review Embargo Date for Death Stranding: On the Beach?
Genki_JPN has reported that the gaming press has already received their copies of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach more than three weeks before release. The review embargo for the upcoming action-adventure game is expected to be lifted on June 23, 2025, at 7 AM PDT / 10 AM EDT / 3 PM BST / 4 PM CEST, three days ahead of launch.
Additionally, the pre-load for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is expected to go live on the PlayStation Store on June 24, 2025, two days prior to launch and a day after the review embargo will be lifted. It will come with the latest update pre-installed for those who pre-ordered a digital copy of the game, though a day one update may be rolled out closer to launch on June 26, 2025. Meanwhile, those who purchased a physical copy of the game will need to download the day one update. As of writing, there are no details available on the game’s download size.
Kojima Productions is pretty confident in the quality of its upcoming title. The studio held a media event recently in April, where people from the gaming press were allowed to get 30-hour hands-on time with the sequel to Death Stranding for previews. A majority of these previews turned out to be very positive, and the game is, therefore, expected to review well.
During a recent episode of the Koji Pro radio broadcast, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach director Hideo Kojima revealed that the game was initially planned as DLC for the first title or something along the lines of a “Death Stranding 1.5.” Read about it here.
