Kojima Productions has released a new batch of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach screenshots, offering a closer look at several of the game’s vehicles as well as a haunting boss encounter. The images were shared through the studio’s official Instagram account, providing fans with fresh insight into the visual and thematic tone of the highly anticipated sequel.

The new screenshots arrive shortly after the game received its official M18 rating, primarily due to intense depictions of violence, disturbing cinematic content, and mature thematic elements. The rating report highlighted instances of graphic dismemberment, corpse-laden beaches, and sequences involving suicide, torture, and flamethrower executions. Cinematic moments reportedly include limb severing, characters being burned alive, and infant bodies strewn across symbolic landscapes, further confirming that the sequel intends to push narrative and visual boundaries.
In terms of gameplay, Death Stranding 2 remains rooted in its unique delivery-focused mechanics, blending open-world traversal with tactical combat and narrative-driven missions. Players reprise the role of Sam Porter Bridges, navigating treacherous terrain while using mechanical aids and advanced weapons to fulfill high-stakes deliveries. Progression is once again tied to successful missions, enhancing Sam’s physical and logistical abilities.
Originally conceived as a large-scale expansion for the first game, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach evolved into a full sequel during development. As confirmed by Hideo Kojima during a recent Koji Pro radio broadcast, the game was initially envisioned as “Death Stranding 1.5,” before the scope and narrative ambitions outgrew that framework.
The game is scheduled for release on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
