Deep Rock Galactic has a native PS5 version in addition to PS4. If you are stuck in a rut to pick between the two consoles, check out this comparison.
Deep Rock Galactic not only offers a native PS5 release but also supports the DualSense controller. We are focusing on what visual difference exists between the two platforms here.
First up, there is a performance and fidelity mode available on the PS4 and PS5. The game appears to run at a higher frame rate while in performance mode. Overall, it feels better to play on the PS5 than the PS4. The higher frame rate helps the PS5 version transition to better animations and with smoother controller feedback.
The frame rate should matter more in games where there are multiple players online. While the network performance is a mixed bag so far on the PlayStation consoles, this doesn’t mean you can’t play cross-play between the PS4 and PS5.
The major visual difference boils down to the visual effects and resolution. In the performance mode on the PS4, the resolution is downgraded leading to severe aliasing which is seen in the hub of the game. The various locations for dig also lack additional post-processing effects e.g the smoke coming from the underground caves, dust particles, and so on.
The DualSense controller is used for the internal speakers being used to broadcast the directives from the Mission Control. It also makes use of the haptics and adaptive triggers to some extent to give each of the different tools and weapons a unique touch.
