Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Approaches 750 Million Globally as Japan Admissions Hit Historic Levels

by Salal Awan

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle is closing in on a huge worldwide milestone as its global total climbs to an estimated $740.4 million. Thanks to its continued success in Japan and major international markets, the film has already secured its place as one of 2025’s highest-grossing releases and is on track to pass the $750 million mark. This performance proves the global reach of the franchise and builds on the record-breaking success of earlier Demon Slayer movies.

In Japan, the film earned an estimated $1.1 million during its eighteenth three-day weekend, a 33 percent jump from the frame before. This increase brings its domestic total to about $256.7 million, or roughly 37.92 billion yen, with approximately 26.3 million tickets sold. When measured in local currency, it is now the second-highest-grossing film ever released in Japan. It also holds the second-highest number of admissions in the country’s history, showing unusually steady interest throughout a very long run in theaters.

Current weekend data shows Infinity Castle sitting fourth on the Japanese box office chart from November 14 to 16, following strong performances from Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, and Bakudan. Even so, its overall numbers continue to rise steadily, which reflects the long-lasting appeal typical of major anime releases in the domestic market.

Outside of Japan, the film has added an estimated $297.1 million from overseas markets, with outstanding results in the United States and China. The U.S. total is about $133.9 million, making Infinity Castle the highest-grossing international film ever released in the country and beating the previous record held by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. In China, the film delivered incredible numbers with a $52.7 million opening over its first three days, marking the biggest opening weekend for a Japanese movie in the Chinese market. Its debut also ranks as the second-largest opening for an animated feature in China, trailing only The First Slam Dunk, which had a four-day opening period.

Early audience reaction in China has been exceptionally positive. Viewers have given it a 9.7 rating on Maoyan, which is similar to an A+ CinemaScore, and an 8.8 rating on Douban. The film generated over one million dollars in presales for Monday, supported by an extensive schedule of over one hundred thousand screenings, even as the screening count naturally shrinks in the days following its release.

Infinity Castle adapts one of the most critical parts of the Demon Slayer story. After Muzan Kibutsuji launches a final attack against the Demon Slayer Corps, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and the Hashira are pulled into the massive, constantly changing fortress that serves as the demons’ final base.
