Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns has crossed an extraordinary milestone, becoming the only Japanese film to surpass $600 million at the global box office. The latest entry in the blockbuster anime franchise has now grossed $606.5 million worldwide, with further growth expected in the coming weeks.

The film’s regional performance highlights its international appeal. In Japan, the movie has earned $235.7 million, while North America accounts for $115.8 million. Overseas markets outside these two regions have contributed an additional $255 million, pushing the total to well over the $600 million threshold. Industry trackers estimate the film could end its run at around $675 million in its current markets, with a potential boost should it secure a theatrical release in China.

At the Japanese box office, Infinity Castle continues to maintain a presence despite competition from new releases. On September 27, it ranked second with $1.2 million in earnings, bringing its domestic total to $234.7 million, equal to approximately 34.84 billion yen. Meanwhile, in the United States, the film remains strong despite a steeper third-week drop of 60.9 percent, recording $1.8 million on its third Friday. With an estimated weekend gross of $7 million, the North American total is projected to reach around $118 million, making it the highest-grossing animated film of 2025 in the region.

The success of Infinity Castle cements the global impact of the Demon Slayer franchise. Directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by Ufotable, the film adapts the highly anticipated Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga. Unlike previous compilation releases, this film serves as the first part of a full-length trilogy, designed to capture the dramatic pacing of the source material. It follows directly after the anime’s fourth season and builds on the momentum of Mugen Train (2020), To the Swordsmith Village (2023), and To the Hashira Training (2024).

Since its premiere in July 2025, Infinity Castle has broken numerous records. It is now the highest-grossing Japanese film ever worldwide, the top film of 2025 in Japan, the second-highest-grossing film in Japan’s box office history, and the eighth-highest-grossing film globally in 2025.

With two more Infinity Castle films yet to arrive, the Demon Slayer franchise continues to demonstrate its remarkable staying power, both as a cultural phenomenon in Japan and as a dominant force in the global box office.
