Demon’s Souls has been updated to version 1.005 today, adding support for the PS5 Pro. This update reportedly enhances the shadow quality as well.
While the developers have not disclosed specific details about this update, Digital Foundry had an opportunity to evaluate it. They confirmed the presence of a new graphics mode specifically designed for the PS5 Pro, which runs at 4K resolution, although it’s likely that this resolution and performance could have been achieved using the PSSR upscaling technique. The internal resolution has not yet been confirmed, but with the update released, it may only be a matter of days before official details are announced.
Digital Foundry also noted that shadow quality has improved on the PS5 Pro. They suggested that contact shadows have been implemented, enhancing the overall quality of shadows. However, the game does not seem to include other improvements, such as ray tracing. This might be intended to maintain the target resolution and performance at 4K.
