Capcom has reported its strongest first-half financial results in company history, driven by the exceptional performance of its back catalog, with Devil May Cry 5 emerging as the standout success of the period. According to Capcom’s fiscal report for the first half of fiscal year 2025/26 (April–September 2025), the acclaimed action game sold 2.13 million units, becoming the best-selling title for the company during this timeframe. The surge in sales coincides with the release of the Devil May Cry Netflix anime adaptation, which has significantly reignited public interest in the long-running franchise.

Capcom’s overall results reflect remarkable growth across both revenue and unit sales. The publisher recorded ¥81.1 billion in net sales, up 44 percent year-over-year, and an operating profit of ¥39.3 billion, marking a 90 percent increase compared to the same period last year. In total, Capcom sold 23.85 million units during the first half, representing a 19.1 percent year-over-year increase and the company’s best first-half performance on record.

The majority of this success was driven by catalog titles, which accounted for 22.85 million units, or nearly 96 percent of total sales. In comparison, newly released titles contributed 997,000 units, a decline of 7.2 percent year-over-year. Digital channels remained dominant, representing 94 percent of total sales at 22.41 million units, while physical sales accounted for only 6 percent. The PC platform led the charge with 13.66 million digital units sold, up 27.2 percent, further cementing Capcom’s growing emphasis on the digital marketplace.

Among the company’s top-performing games, Devil May Cry 5 led the pack with its 2.13 million units sold, followed by Resident Evil Village at 1.57 million and Resident Evil 4 at 1.27 million. Other titles such as Resident Evil 7 biohazard and Street Fighter 6 also maintained strong momentum, selling 1.15 million and 1.09 million units respectively. Devil May Cry 5’s total lifetime sales now exceed 10.78 million units, a testament to the franchise’s enduring appeal and the lasting success of its 2019 release and 2020 Special Edition.

Capcom attributes its strong results to the sustained performance of its evergreen franchises, including Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter, all of which continue to generate steady, high-margin revenue years after launch. The company’s digital strategy has also proven highly profitable, with an operating margin of 62.9 percent, emphasizing the value of a catalog-driven business model.

Devil May Cry 5, developed and published by Capcom, originally released on March 8, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, before later receiving the Special Edition for next-generation consoles. The game follows the demon hunters Nero, Dante, and V as they confront the demonic Qliphoth tree and its ruler, Urizen, in the ravaged city of Red Grave. Enhanced features such as ray tracing, Turbo Mode, and up to 120 FPS performance made the Special Edition a standout showcase for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S hardware.

The timing of the Netflix anime launch appears to have played a major role in rekindling enthusiasm for the series, introducing it to a wider global audience and fueling renewed sales momentum. With Devil May Cry 5 once again at the forefront of Capcom’s success, the company’s strategy of nurturing long-lasting IPs continues to yield exceptional results, reinforcing its position as one of the industry’s most financially consistent publishers.
