Devil May Cry Series Sales Surge Past 36 Million Following Netflix Series Boost

Capcom has revealed a huge jump in sales for its long-running Devil May Cry franchise, and a big chunk of this success probably comes from the recent Netflix animated show. According to the company’s latest financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025 (April through June), the series sold an impressive three million more units.

A large part of this surge is attributed to Devil May Cry 5, which alone sold over 1.78 million copies during the quarter. This brings its cumulative sales to an impressive total of 10.51 million units. Other entries in the franchise also experienced renewed interest, with Devil May Cry HD Collection adding 594 thousand units sold, and Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition reaching 495 thousand units.

Overall, series-wide sales have now crossed 36 million as of June 30, 2025, up from 33 million at the end of the previous quarter. The boost appears to be closely linked to the release of the new animated television series, which debuted on Netflix on April 3, 2025.

Created by Adi Shankar and animated by Studio Mir, the Devil May Cry animated series got great reviews from critics and probably brought in new fans while getting old ones excited about the games again. The show follows Dante, the demon hunter who works for money, as he fights off a demon invasion led by a new bad guy called the White Rabbit. It also has Mary, a tough soldier who has her own agenda that doesn’t always line up with everyone else’s. Within a week of coming out, the series got renewed for a second season, which shows how much people loved it.

The Devil May Cry franchise has always been one of Capcom’s biggest series. Hideki Kamiya originally came up with it as a Resident Evil spin-off, but it turned into its own thing, focused on flashy combat and demons. Since the first game dropped in 2001, the series has grown to include several sequels, spinoffs, and other stuff like animated shows and remastered collections.

This latest sales milestone makes Devil May Cry 5 the best-selling game in the whole franchise. The game came out in March 2019 and has kept getting more popular over time. With all the buzz and people getting excited about the series again, fans are already wondering if a new game is coming, though Capcom hasn’t said anything official yet.
