Digimon Story: Time Stranger has already encountered an unexpected supply shortage in Japan, with physical copies selling out across many major retailers. Bandai Namco Entertainment has issued an apology to fans, explaining that demand for the standard packaged edition exceeded expectations ahead of the game’s worldwide release on October 3, 2025.

In an official statement shared via the Digimon series’ social media account, the publisher acknowledged the shortage. The notice read, “Currently, due to high demand and the number of customers who have purchased the game, the standard packaged edition is now sold out or in short supply at some retailers. We will continue to ship out stock sequentially, but if you wish to play the game immediately, various downloadable editions are available, and we ask that you consider them when making your purchase. We sincerely ask for your continued support of Digimon Story: Time Stranger.”

The wave of excitement building around the game is palpable, especially with the current shortage hitting just before its full launch. This only highlights how eagerly fans are awaiting this highly anticipated title!. Time Stranger marks the seventh installment in the Digimon Story series and the first new entry in eight years, following Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory. Developed by Media.Vision and published by Bandai Namco, the role-playing game is set for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC worldwide.

Bandai Namco confirmed that restocks of the physical edition are already underway, though no clear timeline was given. In the meantime, the company is encouraging fans to explore the digital version, ensuring that players eager to begin their adventure will not have to wait. With demand this strong, Digimon Story: Time Stranger may already be shaping up to be one of the most notable entries in the long-running franchise.
