Digital and physical editions of Nintendo published Switch 2 exclusive titles will differ in price going forward.
Nintendo has announced on its official website that, going forward, digital and physical editions of Switch 2 exclusives published by the console maker will differ in price, starting with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. “Beginning in May 2026, and starting with preorders for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, new Nintendo published digital titles exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 will have an MSRP that is different from physical versions,” the post states.
The console maker assured that its games will continue to offer the same experiences across physical and digital editions of first-party titles. The post states, “Beginning in May 2026, and starting with preorders for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, new Nintendo published digital titles exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 will have an MSRP that is different from physical versions.”
As for pricing available at retail partners, Nintendo clarified that, as always, retail partners will set their own prices for both physical and digital games, and pricing for each title may, therefore, vary. The digital edition of the upcoming Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is officially priced at 59.99 US Dollars, while the physical edition will cost 69.99 US Dollars.
For the uninitiated, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is an upcoming side-scrolling platformer developed and published by Nintendo. It is set for release on May 21, 2026, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. Yoshi’s latest adventure is a followup to 2019’s Yoshi’s Crafted World, taking place within the living encyclopedia known as “Mr. E.” Upon exploring the the mysterious book, he’ll encounter unusual creatures within its pages. Each chapter introduces new beings, all possessing distinct characteristics. Once discovered, Yoshi can use their abilities to overcome obstacles, solve puzzles, and navigate the environment. The visual presentation resembles traditional stop-motion animation, featuring intentionally lower frame rates for certain movements to enhance the handcrafted aesthetic.
