Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 Launch on Steam

by Greg Martin

Capcom has released Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 on Steam for the first time, making the classic survival horror titles fully playable on modern PCs. The two fan favorites from the late 1990s are now available digitally, complete with compatibility updates designed for current systems and controllers.

First launched in 1999, Dino Crisis shifted the survival horror formula from shambling undead to prehistoric predators. The original game follows special agent Regina as she infiltrates a remote research facility that has been overrun by dinosaurs. What begins as a covert mission quickly spirals into a desperate fight for survival, as players navigate tight corridors, solve puzzles, and uncover the mystery behind the creatures’ sudden reappearance.

Dino Crisis 2 took a different approach when it debuted, leaning further into action while maintaining the series’ tension. The sequel sends Regina back into danger, this time traveling to the Cretaceous Period as part of a mission to rescue survivors from a city displaced in time. The game increases the scale of combat, throwing larger numbers of dinosaurs at players while expanding the available arsenal, resulting in a faster-paced and more arcade-driven experience.

According to Capcom, both Steam releases preserve the original gameplay while adding enhancements to ensure smooth performance on modern operating systems. Controller support has also been updated to better align with contemporary PC setups.

To mark the launch, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 are available at a 50 percent discount for a limited time, reducing the price to $5 each. The promotion is part of the broader Capcom Publisher Sale on Steam, which includes discounts on other franchises such as Resident Evil, Onimusha, and Exoprimal.

With their arrival on Steam, Dino Crisis and its sequel are now accessible to a new generation of PC players, while longtime fans can revisit the series that brought survival horror face to face with prehistoric terror.
