Doki Doki Literature Club has been removed from the Google Play Store, with Google citing violations of its policies related to sensitive content, according to a statement from the game’s developers.

Dan Salvato and Serenity Forge confirmed the removal, explaining that the platform holder flagged the title for its depiction of mature themes. The visual novel, which has built a strong reputation for its unconventional storytelling and exploration of mental health topics, is no longer available for download on Android through the official storefront.

In their response, the developers defended the game’s intent, stating that its portrayal of mental health has resonated with players globally. They described the project as one that aims to create meaningful connections through fiction, particularly for those who may feel isolated or unheard. The team added that this impact remains a key motivation behind their work.

Despite the setback on Android, Doki Doki Literature Club continues to be available across multiple platforms, including iOS, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation systems. The developers noted that they are actively working to resolve the situation with Google in hopes of restoring the game to the Play Store.

At the same time, the team is exploring alternative distribution options for Android users, suggesting that other avenues for accessing the game on the platform may be considered if reinstatement efforts are unsuccessful.

The developers also acknowledged the support they have received from the Android community since the game’s release on the platform, expressing appreciation for continued player enthusiasm. Further updates regarding the game’s availability on Android are expected as discussions with Google continue.
