Donkey Kong Bananza spoilers are out in the wild following the game’s early retail release, revealing details regarding the gameplay.
A member of Chinese forum Baidu (via Reddit user streetfighter855) who was able to obtain an early copy Donkey Kong Bananza has leaked some spoilers and new details regarding the gameplay. It goes without saying that those who wish to head into the experience blind should stop reading here.

Donkey Kong Banaza Spoilers & Gameplay Details
The information shared by the Baidu forum user can be seen below.
- Optimization is good, but the frame rate drops when opening the map of the current layer
- You seem to lose 10% of your gold when Donkey Kong gets taken out
- Gold is required for the plot, as well as to unlock some challenge ruins
- Collecting golden bananas is important, and the game may be more difficult due to harder terrain
- There are over 100 golden bananas in the first four layers
- You can move between layers
- Mild story spoiler for the beginning: Donkey Kong falls into the Lagoon Layer similar to how Link does in Tears of the Kingdom
- There are three sub-layers in the first layer (100, 101, 102), and likely in the rest of the layers as well
- Layer 200 is the grassy layer
- In Layer 400, the path seems to fork into the snowy and jungle layers
- Spoilers regarding the presence of K. Rool: No sign of him in the game so far, although the player is only at Layer 400 as of writing
Regarding the frame rate drops in Donkey Kong Bananza, it was recently revealed by producer Kenta Motokura and director Kazuya Takahashi during an interview that the development team prioritized that gameplay satisfaction, particularly the joy of destruction, even if it comes at the cost of occasional performance hiccups.
