Double Fine Currently Has Multiple Games In Development Besides Keeper

Double Fine Productions currently has multiple games in development besides its upcoming puzzle adventure game, Keeper.

In an interview during day 1 of the Xbox at Gamescom 2025 broadcast, Double Fine Productions founder Tim Schafer was asked what the studio has been cooking up behind closed doors since 2021 outside of Keeper. In response, he confirmed that the development team is currently working on “multiple games” alongside Keeper, and that each one of these projects is a completely original IP. “They are all brand-new,” Schafer explained. “Brand-new IP. That is keeping us fine for sequels.”

By focusing on original IP, Double Fine Productions seems committed to expanding its creative portfolio rather than relying on established franchises. Schafer was careful not to give away details, mentioning that the team is excited about these projects but not ready to share more just yet. “We are working on new projects that are brand-new IP and we are excited about sharing them someday,” he teased, leaving the rest to our imagination.

Double Fine Productions’ history suggests that these future titles may span a wide range of genres. The studio has consistently defied convention, whether it be the platforming creativity of Psychonauts to the heavy-metal fantasy of Brutal Legend and the post-apocalyptic style of Rad. Schafer’s comments indicate that the same experimental spirit will continue to drive Double Fine Productions’ next projects.

As for Keeper, the game set to launch on October 17, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, Steam and Game Pass. It tells its story entirely without dialogue, unfolding as a third-person atmospheric adventure set in a world long after humanity has vanished. The journey begins on a desolate island, beneath the shadow of a towering mountain. At its edge stands a relic from another age — a Lighthouse. Though its original role has been forgotten in this post-human era, its form remains unmistakable.
