Double Fine Teases The Next Tim Schafer Game

Double Fine Productions has teased the next Time Schafer game in the latest episode of PsychOdyssey on YouTube.

During episode 33 of PsychOdyssey, Tim Schafer, game director at Double Fine Productions, mentioned that he has a couple of ideas that he really wants to work on. He said that he wants to make games now that it’s fun, and he doesn’t have to worry about going out of business all the time.

Double fine next game

Seth Marinello, principal designer at Double Fine Productions, stated that Tim had this idea that he’s been kicking around for a while in his head, which involves something that the development team isn’t willing to share just yet. According to him, Tim kind of just threw the idea out there as like, “Oh, someday I would like to make a game like this.” Marinello suggested that it sounded like a game that could be prototyped.

Tim mentioned that he’s working on a game alongside Seth and Ray, and he believes it’s “so good”. He doesn’t want anyone in the company to hear about it or know about it. He added that the three of them are just making it by themselves, and they are just trying to get as far as they can before anyone comes and takes a look at it.

Marinello said that he’s now kind of at the point where the core game loop of the project could really be a game. He believes that there are a lot of things that the they could fill in. However, he added that it would be great to get more people onboard the project. He mentioned that the question they are trying to answer right now for themselves is, “Is this game the game we want to build next?” That, he said, is ultimately u to Time to make a call on.
