Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO Resolution and Specs Compared Across Switch 2, PS5, and Original Switch

Bandai Namco has released a full technical breakdown of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, detailing how the game performs across various platforms, including the Nintendo Switch 2, and the original Nintendo Switch. These specifications come as part of the updated official website, revealing key differences in resolution, frame rate, and data requirements. The game is scheduled to release on November 14, 2025, with pre-orders now available in multiple editions.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Sparking! ZERO will feature improved visuals and resolution compared to the original Switch. In both docked and handheld mode, the game targets a 1920×1080 output resolution, with actual 3D rendering at 1440×810. The resolution remains dynamic, meaning the game will adjust quality to maintain performance, which is capped at 30 frames per second. In contrast, the original Nintendo Switch version outputs a lower 3D resolution: 1270×720 docked and 856×480 handheld, also locked at 30fps, though menus may drop to 24fps.

In terms of visual features, HDR support is present across most platforms except the original Nintendo Switch, while 4K rendering is exclusive to the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The Switch 2 supports HDR but not native 4K.

Players should also be mindful of storage requirements. The Switch 2 version requires approximately 18.6 GiB of game data with one available save slot, and an additional 128 MiB for save data. The PS5 version, meanwhile, demands over 56 GiB of storage. The Switch 1 version initially installs at just over 6.3 GiB, but an update will bring it in line with the Switch 2 version in terms of game data and feature parity.

Multiplayer works the same way on all systems, with 1-2 players for online matches and up to eight players for Tenkaichi Budokai mode. If you’re playing locally on Switch 2 or the original Switch, you can have up to six players. You can’t play across different platforms, though, but Steam will have some kind of cross-play between different PC setups.

The Switch 2 version also gets Joy-Con motion controls, so you can move your hands to do the characters’ signature moves. These features are meant to make use of Nintendo’s newest hardware and work for both casual players and serious competitors.

With over 180 playable characters from Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, GT, and different movies, Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO keeps the Budokai Tenkaichi series going with the biggest roster the franchise has ever had. Every character has their own special abilities, transformations, and epic finishing moves that stay true to the anime.

Now that we know how the game will work on different systems, fans can start thinking about which version they want. Whether you care more about graphics and performance on the newest consoles or want motion controls and the ability to play anywhere on Switch 2, Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO has something for everyone.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO launches worldwide on November 14, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
