Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Surpasses 10 Million Copies Sold Worldwide

by Salal Awan

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot has officially surpassed 10 million copies sold worldwide, marking a major sales milestone for the action role-playing game. The achievement was confirmed by the developers, who shared a celebratory video acknowledging the growing player base and thanking fans for their continued support. This figure represents a notable increase from the previously reported 8 million copies sold as of June 2024.

In the message accompanying the video, the developers directly addressed the community, stating, “10 million adventurers strong. Thank you for living the story of DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT. The journey isn’t over yet.” The statement reinforces that ongoing support and content updates remain part of the game’s roadmap, even several years after its initial release.

Originally launched on January 17, 2020, Dragon Ball Z Kakarot was developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Bandai Namco. The game debuted on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, before expanding to Nintendo Switch in 2021. It later received native upgrades for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in early 2023, allowing the title to reach new audiences across multiple hardware generations.

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot positions itself as a definitive action RPG adaptation of the Dragon Ball Z storyline, covering major arcs including the Saiyan, Frieza, Cell, and Buu sagas. Over time, its longevity has been supported by an extensive lineup of downloadable content expansions. The game is receiving renewed attention due to the release of the Daima Adventure Through the Demon Realm Part 2 expansion, which concludes the Dragon Ball Daima content and introduces Vegeta Mini as a playable character.

From a sales perspective, the game has shown steady and sustained growth since launch. After selling approximately 2 million units within its first two months, Dragon Ball Z Kakarot reached 4.5 million copies by late 2021. That momentum continued, with sales climbing to 8 million units by July 2024, before now crossing the 10 million mark worldwide.

This latest milestone places Dragon Ball Z Kakarot among the highest-selling titles in Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball catalog. Achieving this level of success as a primarily single-player experience highlights the game’s enduring appeal and the effectiveness of its post-launch content strategy. With continued updates and expansions still arriving, the developers signal that the game’s commercial and content journey is not yet complete, and that is something fans are clearly responding to.
