Dying Light The Beast Update 1.4 Introduces New Game+, Legend Levels, and Major Improvements

Dying Light The Beast update 1.4 is described as the game’s largest update yet, introducing two major progression systems alongside new content and extensive quality refinements. Players can now jump into New Game+, replaying Kyle’s story while retaining all gear and progression, facing tougher enemies, and earning higher-tier rewards. The new Legend Levels system expands end-game growth even further, offering passive upgrades and a wide range of weapons, outfits, and vehicle skins to unlock.

Beyond content updates, the patch delivers a long list of performance improvements, visual upgrades, gameplay adjustments, and co op fixes. With the addition of new finishers and the arrival of the Call of the Beast Week 9 challenge, this update significantly deepens both progression and replayability.

New Content

New Game+

  • Replay Kyle’s story while keeping gear, weapons, and character progression
  • Increased enemy difficulty with higher tier weapons and loot
  • Repeatable mode with difficulty rising each run
  • Unlocks stronger weapons and the toughest enemies in Castor Woods

Legend Levels

  • End game progression system activated at Level 15
  • XP converts into Legend XP after reaching the required level
  • Higher difficulty settings and NG+ tiers increase XP gains
  • Earn Legend Points for passive upgrades including:
    • Increased health
    • Improved combat stats
    • Stronger Beast Mode performance
  • Each Legend Level boosts maximum health
  • Unlocks 22 new weapons, 2 outfits with 12 gear pieces, and legendary vehicle skins

New Finishers

  • Three new finisher animations added
    • One handed blunt weapons
    • Two handed blunt weapons
    • Two handed slasher weapons

Ray Tracing

  • Ray tracing now available for enhanced lighting, shadows, and reflections
  • Recommended to enable via Ultra preset
  • Individual options adjustable in Advanced Video Settings
  • Requirements include compatible GPU with 8 GB VRAM minimum and 16 GB for 4K
  • Higher fidelity may affect performance
  • Ultra mode automatically enables Frame Generation
  • Includes notes on VRR, V Sync, input latency, and optimization recommendations

Call of the Beast Event

  • New Game+, Legend Levels, and Double XP active during the event
  • Exclusive weapon available in stash
  • Community Challenge Executioner
    • Goal 1: Execute 1,000,000 finishers
      • Reward: Gutsbuster Car Skin
    • Goal 2: Execute 2,500,000 finishers
      • Reward: Rascal
  • Event runs from November 27 at 4 PM CEST to December 4 at 4 PM CET
  • Rewards distributed to in game stash at event conclusion
  • Progress trackable through Dying Light Outpost

  • Resolved over 200 parkour and environment issues
  • Adjusted beams, monkey bars, and scaffolding for smoother navigation
  • Fixed zipline prompt mismatches and double jump related falls
  • Added prompt to vault poles and corrected unintended falling
  • Fixed High Noon quest blocker involving a rock formation

Gameplay

  • Reduced XP loss in Survival Mode with targeted early level tuning
  • Reworked stamina curves for improved early combat flow
  • Added a rare weapon near the first campsite in HUB1 quest
  • Minor UI updates in Skill Menu for move set visibility
  • Adjusted reinforcement behavior tied to noise generating actions
  • Improved vehicle challenge obstacle destruction logic

Co op Fixes

  • Corrected host black screen issue when restarting COOP challenges
  • Fixed multiple Convoy activities spawning too close to players
  • Addressed AI failing to exit surrender animations
  • Fixed Banshee floating when supporting biters were killed

Performance and Stability

  • Improved overall stability with over 35 fixes
  • Resolved frame rate drops, crashes, and asserts

Graphical Improvements

  • Addressed more than 70 visual issues including:
    • Incorrect textures
    • Floating assets
    • Clipping models
    • Misaligned architecture
  • Improved lighting and shadow rendering across various environments

UI and Audio

  • Fixed pop up appearing on launch when Steam and Epic accounts were linked
  • Corrected VO and subtitle mismatches with over 12 localization fixes
  • Improved Quest Marker accuracy
  • Fixed debug strings appearing during gameplay
  • Corrected various UI display errors
  • Resolved more than 20 audio issues including missing effects, ambient audio problems, and co op VO sync issues

Dying Light The Beast is a survival horror action title developed by Techland. Update 1.4 released on November 27, 2025. The game is available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
