Koei Tecmo has announced an indefinite delay for Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, pushing the title beyond its previously scheduled March 19, 2026, release date. The decision applies to all platforms, including PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam.
The announcement was made through the official Koei Tecmo X account. Koei Tecmo confirmed that the original launch date is no longer in effect and that a new release window will be shared at a later time. The statement lists the change simply as “Previous: 19th March 2026” and “New: To be announced.”
Alongside the notice, producer Tomohiko Sho provided an explanation for the delay. He stated, “The release of DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered has been postponed from the previously announced 19th March 2026.” Sho emphasized that the project holds special significance as the first remaster in the Dynasty Warriors series and that the development team wants to meet fan expectations.
He continued, “As the first remaster of the DYNASTY WARRIORS series, in order to fully satisfy our fans, we have made the decision to further improve the quality of the game. The new release date will be announced at a later date.” Sho concluded the message by adding, “We appreciate your patience as we take a little more time before the game releases.”
Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered is being developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo as a modern restoration of the original Dynasty Warriors 3, which first launched on PlayStation 2 in 2001, along with its Xtreme Legends expansion. The remastered edition is designed to preserve the core identity of the classic while updating it for contemporary hardware.
The project is built using Unreal Engine 5 and features a complete visual overhaul. It also includes a roster of more than 40 playable officers and retains the franchise’s signature 1 vs. 1000 gameplay structure that defined its early popularity. The remaster was positioned as a major nostalgia-driven release for long-time fans while also serving as an entry point for new players.
Koei Tecmo has not provided specific details on what aspects of the game require further improvement, nor has it offered a revised release window. The wording of the announcement suggests that the delay is open-ended, with no timeframe currently attached to the new launch date.
