Dynasty Warriors: Origins Developers Eye More Crossovers, Hint at Possible Sequel

by Salal Awan

The creative team behind Dynasty Warriors: Origins is already looking beyond the latest entry, with producer Sho and art director Yoshida revealing both sequel ambitions and an appetite for bold crossover projects. Speaking to Edge magazine, Sho admitted he has concepts in mind for a follow-up, though it is still far from a formal announcement.

“Whether it will be called Dynasty Warriors: Origins 2 is another matter,” Sho explained. “But yes, I do have some ideas in mind for it. These ideas are just in my head, and so I really want to work hard to bring about this reality, rather than leaving them as mere concepts. It’s not a definitive thing, but this is what I personally would like to be able to pursue.”

Alongside talk of a sequel, Sho expressed interest in expanding the series’ crossover experiments, suggesting Lord of the Rings and Star Wars as properties that “really spark my imagination.” Yoshida, meanwhile, offered a more unconventional choice, enthusiastically naming Mad Max as his dream collaboration. With the Origins formula proving flexible enough to accommodate new ideas, these picks have sparked speculation among fans about what a future Warriors crossover might look like.

The comments come as Koei Tecmo continues its celebrations for the franchise’s 25th anniversary. The publisher recently released a commemorative trailer that reflected on the series’ history while teasing new projects, including a yet-to-be-identified remaster and a “major DLC” expansion for Dynasty Warriors: Origins. No release dates or content specifics have been provided, but the announcements make it clear that Koei Tecmo intends to keep building on the latest title’s foundation.

While nothing is confirmed, the combination of sequel discussions, crossover ambitions, and ongoing anniversary plans points to a busy future for the long-running Musou series. Fans eager for fresh battlefields—whether in ancient China or a galaxy far, far away—may have reason to stay tuned.
