Electronic Arts has shared an official update on the evolving Battlefield 6 progression system, confirming that the development team is testing new options that would allow players to earn account XP and unlock progression across solo, co-op, and curated community servers. The update, issued by EA community officer EA_Shepard, addresses long-standing player requests for broader progression flexibility and transparency within the game’s Portal mode.
In the post, EA_Shepard acknowledged community frustrations about unclear communication surrounding progression eligibility and the limitations present at launch. Many players have voiced disappointment that full progression was previously restricted to matchmade PvP sessions, leaving those who prefer low-stress cooperative play or community-driven experiences without meaningful unlock opportunities.
To address these concerns, Electronic Arts has begun testing a new framework that expands progression access to non-traditional gameplay spaces. “We’re enabling account XP and unlock/unlock-track progression in solo/co-op and a curated list of community servers,” the statement confirmed. However, to protect the integrity of the game’s leaderboards and statistics, certain elements—such as kill-death ratios, mastery tallies, and global leaderboard rankings—will remain unaffected during this trial period.
According to the update, the system’s initial rollout includes several anti-exploit mechanisms designed to maintain balance and fairness. These include minimum difficulty thresholds, AFK (away-from-keyboard) and activity loop detection, as well as mixed target objectives that prevent repetitive farming. Servers triggering exploit signals will automatically lose their “Progression Eligible” status until the issues are corrected. The goal, according to EA, is to ensure that the progression test does not compromise the integrity of the competitive ecosystem.
Clear communication and labeling will also play a central role in the update. EA plans to tag all relevant servers and modes as either “Progression Eligible” or “Not Eligible,” with a tooltip explanation appearing both in the server browser and the pre-match screen. This step aims to prevent confusion and help players easily identify where their actions contribute to their account advancement.
EA_Shepard also encouraged the community to take part in data collection throughout the testing phase. Players are invited to report legitimate servers that should qualify for progression but currently do not, as well as any instances of exploitative farming behavior. “If you hit a legitimate mode that should be eligible but isn’t, drop the server code/name, platform, and time here,” the post reads. Reports on problematic servers are also requested, with users asked to include the server code and observed activity patterns for review.
Released worldwide on October 10, 2025, Battlefield 6 marks a return to the franchise’s roots, emphasizing large-scale, class-based warfare across expansive, destructible environments. The title includes a single-player campaign set during a near-future conflict between a fractured NATO and the private military organization Pax Armata, alongside the expansive multiplayer and Portal modes that define the series. Available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the game has been widely recognized for recapturing the tactical intensity and scale reminiscent of Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4.
