In its review for Mafia: The Old Country, criticized its standard-issue mechanics for getting in the way of its dramatic ambitions at times. On the other hand, things work well when the shooting, killing and stealing serve as the context for the romantic tragedy that is the game’s core. According to them, if the game’s flaws can be overlooked, it has an enormous amount of heart.
Meanwhile, the review for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater termed it as compelling because of the quality of its source material. According to them, for those already drawn to the promise of seeing Snake appear more lifelike than ever before, Delta serves its purpose. Others may be better served by playing the original, again or for the first time.
As for the Shinobi: Art of Vengeance review, Edge said that even if memories of Musashi’s prior missions and the IP are stripped away, we would still have an exquisite action-platform game on our hands. As per them, even when it falters, something thrilling follows.
