Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware have officially announced significant milestones for two major releases in the Elden Ring franchise. The co-developed action survival title Elden Ring Nightreign has now shipped over five million units globally, while the expansive Shadow of the Erdtree downloadable content for the original Elden Ring has surpassed 10 million units shipped worldwide since its release in 2024.
Released on May 30, 2025, Elden Ring Nightreign marked a bold shift in the franchise’s direction. Described as a spin-off from the 2022 hit Elden Ring, Nightreign builds upon the original’s gameplay systems but introduces a new co-operative and roguelike structure. In this multiplayer-focused experience, players take on the roles of Nightfarers, working together to endure increasingly perilous scenarios in a session-based format. Following its announcement at The Game Awards 2024, it debuted across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC, quickly becoming a top-selling title across all platforms in May.
Meanwhile, Shadow of the Erdtree, the long-anticipated DLC expansion for Elden Ring, continues to perform strongly more than a year after its initial launch on June 21, 2024. The expansion takes players to the Land of Shadow, following a narrative thread closely tied to the lore of the original game. Its critical and commercial success has not waned since release, with Bandai Namco and FromSoftware confirming that shipments have now surpassed 10 million units worldwide. This figure reflects sustained interest in the core game and its expanded content more than two years after its debut.
Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware expressed their gratitude to fans, stating, “We would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to players of these titles around the world. We will continue our endeavor to provide high-quality, rich, and long-lasting content going forward.”
