The ESRB has officially rated the Tarnished Edition of Elden Ring for the Nintendo Switch 2. Additionally, the game has also been rated in Brazil for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC. This suggests that an announcement regarding the release date for the Switch 2 port may be forthcoming in the next few days.

According to the ESRB, Elden Ring Tarnished Edition has received a Mature 17+ rating, citing Blood and Gore, Language, Suggestive Themes, and Violence, with an additional note that it includes in-game purchases. The rating summary describes the game as an action role-playing title in which players control a character seeking to reclaim a magical ring and ascend as Elden Lord. From a third-person perspective, players traverse expansive environments, collect items, and engage in melee battles with knights and fantastical creatures. The summary also outlines combat details, including swords, spears, axes, arrows, and magic, accompanied by cries of pain, blood effects, and impactful sounds. Scenes of gore, such as collectible severed fingers and tongues, a boss amputating its own arm, and severed limbs hanging from ceilings, contribute to the mature content. One humanoid monster is partially nude, with scales or scars covering its chest and pelvic regions. The dialogue includes the word sh*t, which also influenced the rating outcome.

Separately, the Brazilian Rating Board has likewise listed Elden Ring Tarnished Edition for all last and current-generation consoles, including PC. The Tarnished Edition will incorporate the original Elden Ring base game along with the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, introducing new armor sets and options to customize Torrent, the player’s spectral steed.

Elden Ring has become one of the most acclaimed action RPGs of the decade, selling over 28 million copies worldwide thanks to its dark fantasy world and demanding combat. The upcoming re-release—including a version for Nintendo’s new hardware—aims to draw both returning players and newcomers, further expanding FromSoftware’s reach.
