Epic Games Store December 30 Mystery Game Is Trine Classic Collection

by Ali Haider

Epic Games Store has revealed that its December 30 mystery game is Trine Classic Collection, marking Mystery Game number 14 out of 17 in its Holiday Sale 2025 promotion. The announcement continues Epic’s daily giveaway schedule, which has delivered a new free PC title every 24 hours since mid December. As with previous mystery games, the collection will be available to claim for a limited time once it goes live on the storefront.

Trine Classic Collection is positioned as a definitive compilation of Frozenbyte’s early Trine titles, focusing specifically on the first three games in the series. The collection includes Trine Enchanted Edition, Trine 2 Complete Story, and Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power. Unlike the older Ultimate Collection, this bundle emphasizes high-fidelity Enchanted remasters rather than breadth, intentionally excluding later entries to preserve its Classic identity.

One of the more notable inclusions is Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power, a title that received mixed reception at launch. In this collection, the game incorporates a 2025 Redemption Patch that addresses several of the perspective-based platforming issues that originally drew criticism. While the details of the fixes are not expanded upon, the update is positioned as a meaningful improvement over the original release. It is a quiet second chance, but a deliberate one.

The collection also introduces cross-platform cooperative play across all three games. This feature allows players to experience the physics-driven puzzles and combat together regardless of platform choice, a first for these titles. Cooperative play has long been central to the Trine experience, and its expansion here adds practical value to the collection rather than serving as a cosmetic upgrade.

Trine Classic Collection officially launched on October 21, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Its appearance as a free offering on Epic Games Store adds it to the growing list of substantial giveaways during the Holiday Sale period. The promotion itself began on December 11, with Hogwarts Legacy offered as a week-long free game, before transitioning into the daily mystery game format on December 18.

Since then, Epic has cycled through a diverse lineup. Early entries included Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel, Eternights, and Blood West, followed by Sorry We’re Closed and Paradise Killer. Christmas week escalated with Bloodstained Ritual of the Night, The Callisto Protocol, and Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. More recent titles have included We Were Here Together, Cassette Beasts, SKALD Against the Black Priory, and Viewfinder on December 29.

With Trine Classic Collection now revealed for December 30, Epic Games Store continues to maintain momentum heading into the final stretch of its Holiday Sale mystery game campaign.
