A new leak suggests the Epic Games Store will begin January 2026 with a familiar free game, and it is one players have received before. According to popular leaker MegumiShiro, Bloons TD 6 is expected to be offered as the next free PC title, continuing Epic’s long-running weekly giveaway program. As with all leaks, the information has not been officially confirmed by Epic Games, but the source has a strong track record.
If accurate, the giveaway would mark a repeat for Epic Games Store users, which has already distributed Bloons TD 6 in the past. While repeats are not uncommon in Epic’s free game lineup, they often draw mixed reactions from players who were hoping for something new to start the year. Still, Bloons TD 6 remains a widely played and well-supported title, which may soften the disappointment for some.
Bloons TD 6 is a tower defense game centered on placing monkey units to stop waves of increasingly complex balloon enemies. First released on June 14, 2018, for iOS and Android, the game later expanded to PC via Steam in December 2018 and macOS in 2020. Console versions followed with an Xbox One release on September 5, 2023, and a PlayStation 4 version on May 22, 2024.
The leak follows the conclusion of Epic Games Store’s Holiday Sale 2025, which began on December 11 and featured Hogwarts Legacy as its headline free title. That promotion transitioned into the annual daily Mystery Game event on December 18, delivering a rotating selection of games through the end of the month. The lineup included Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel, Eternights, Blood West, Paradise Killer, Bloodstained Ritual of the Night, The Callisto Protocol, Disco Elysium The Final Cut, and others, concluding with Viewfinder and the Trine Classic Collection.
At the time of writing, Epic Games has not commented on the January lineup. Until an official announcement is made, Bloons TD 6 should be viewed as a likely but unconfirmed freebie.
