Epic Games Store has officially confirmed that the mystery game offered on December 20, 2025, is Blood West. The reveal comes as part of the Epic Games Store Holiday Sale 2025, which returned earlier this month and once again introduced its annual Mystery Game promotion. Unlike previous years, the 2025 campaign shifted from a weekly format to a daily rotation starting December 18, increasing the pace and frequency of free game reveals.
Blood West joins the lineup as the fourth mystery title made available during this year’s promotion. The campaign itself began on December 11 with a high-profile giveaway of Hogwarts Legacy for an entire week, a move that set expectations unusually high from the outset. Following that opening, Epic Games Store transitioned to a more unconventional selection, with Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel and Eternights preceding the December 20 reveal. With Blood West now confirmed, a total of 13 mystery games remain to be unveiled before the promotion concludes.
Described as a blend of Weird West mythology and eldritch horror, Blood West is positioned as an immersive stealth-focused first-person shooter. Players take on the role of the Undead Gunslinger, a cursed figure condemned to wander hostile lands in search of a way to cleanse the affliction and free his soul. The game explicitly distances itself from traditional Western redemption narratives, framing its story instead as a prolonged descent marked by damnation rather than salvation.
The game features three distinct open-ended regions known as the Canyons, the Swamp, and the Mountains. Each area is populated by abominable creatures and unholy enemies, encouraging exploration at the player’s own pace. Completing all three scenarios takes over 20 hours on average, while fully exploring everything the game offers can extend playtime beyond 35 hours.
With Blood West now confirmed as the December 20 mystery game, Epic Games Store continues its Holiday Sale with a noticeably varied selection, leaning into experimental and genre-blending experiences rather than relying solely on mainstream releases.
