The upcoming Street Fighter live-action film continues to build its ensemble cast, with comedian Eric Andre now reportedly set to take on the role of Don Sauvage. The news was first circulated by NPN, who previously revealed Cody Rhodes’ casting as Guile and 50 Cent’s role as Balrog. This latest development adds another distinctive personality to the already eclectic lineup.
Speculation regarding Andre’s involvement dates back to June, when film journalist Jeff Sneider suggested that the comedian had been cast. At the time, his role was rumored to be that of a tournament announcer. Recent reports now point strongly toward Andre portraying Don Sauvage, a character recognized within the Street Fighter universe as a flamboyant ring announcer.
Within the series’ lore, Don Sauvage’s background includes time spent as a member of a rock band before shifting to the world of fight promotion. His energetic style caught the attention of the CWA, which led to his career as an announcer for both fighting tournaments and other large-scale events. His appearances in the games have often been tied to injecting a comedic and theatrical flair into proceedings, making Andre’s casting a particularly fitting choice.
Production on the film has been moving forward, with recent set photos providing early looks at several major characters. Cody Rhodes was seen embodying Guile, complete with the character’s recognizable flat-top haircut, while Noah Centineo appeared in costume as Ken Masters during a beachside sequence.
The film, produced by Legendary and distributed by Sony Pictures, is being directed by Kitao Sakurai following the departure of Talk to Me filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou. Originally scheduled for release in March 2026, the project has since been delayed indefinitely, though filming remains ongoing.
The cast features a wide array of talent drawn from wrestling, acting, and music, including Andrew Koji as Ryu, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, 50 Cent as Balrog, Orville Peck as Vega, Andrew Schulz as Dan, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, and Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim.
Since its debut in 1987, Capcom’s Street Fighter has become one of the most influential and commercially successful franchises in gaming, with over 56 million units sold worldwide as of March 2025. The live-action adaptation represents another attempt to bring the iconic series to the big screen, with hopes that this ambitious project will resonate with both fans and new audiences.
