Speculation surrounding the Resident Evil franchise has resurfaced after Eva La Dare, the voice actress for Sheva Alomar in Resident Evil 5, teased an upcoming announcement planned for March as part of the series’ 30th anniversary celebrations. The tease has drawn attention across the community, though prominent Resident Evil insiders have been quick to caution against assumptions related to a Resident Evil 5 remake.
La Dare shared the message on social media on January 15, writing, “Got a few fun things lined up for March. Stay tuned! #residentevil30thanniversary.” The post directly references the franchise milestone and includes multiple Resident Evil-related hashtags, prompting immediate discussion around what form the announcement might take. Given her association with Sheva Alomar, many fans initially speculated about a potential revival of Resident Evil 5 in remake form.
However, well-known Resident Evil leaker AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, moved quickly to dismiss those expectations. In a separate post, he stated, “No, there is NOT a Resident Evil 5 Remake that’s going to be announced this year. Instead, later this year a RE Remake that starts with ‘(C)’ & ends ‘(ode Veronica)’ is going to be announced, I promise you.” He further clarified that La Dare’s tease is unrelated to a remake of Resident Evil 5, describing it as “something else not a remake of RE5.”
Beyond remake speculation, attention has shifted toward other possible projects. One frequently mentioned possibility is a new CG Resident Evil film. This idea aligns with comments previously made by Makoto Fukami, the writer of Resident Evil: Death Island, who expressed interest in creating another CG movie featuring Sheva Alomar alongside Barry Burton. While no official confirmation exists, some fans note that Capcom has a pattern of releasing CG film projects between major numbered game entries.
Resident Evil 5 originally launched in March 2009 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, later expanding to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Set in Kijuju, Africa, the game marked a decisive shift toward cooperative, action-focused gameplay, pairing Chris Redfield with newcomer Sheva Alomar. Despite ongoing debate over its tone, the game remains one of Capcom’s best-selling entries in the franchise.
