Existing owners of Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja’s Dead or live 6will not be offered an upgrade path to the upcoming Dead or Alive 6 Last Round.
In response to a query from Twitter/X user ranzzinza (via FreeStepDodge), Koei Tecmo support has clarified that existing owners of Dead or Alive 6 will not be offered an upgrade path to the newly announced Dead or Alive 6 Last Round. In its email, the support team stated, “We regret to inform you that there are currently no plans to provide upgrade from ‘Dead or Alive 6’ to ‘Dead or Alive 6 Last Round’ or discount sale.” This means that players who already own Dead or Alive 6 will need to purchase Dead or Alive 6 Last Round as a separate product at full price if they wish to access the new version at launch.
For fans who have already invested in the base game and its downloadable content, this will undoubtedly come as a disappointment, especially given that other fighting game publishers have offered discounts or upgrade paths in similar circumstances. There is, however, some potentially positive news regarding previously purchased DLC. According to the support response, “Some DLC purchased for ‘Dead or Alive 6’ may be transferable to ‘Dead or Alive 6 Last Round.’ Please wait for upcoming announcements regarding the detailed data transfer methods and conditions.”
The support team also confirmed that certain guest characters will not be included in the new release. “Unfortunately, ‘Mai Shiranui’ and ‘Kula Diamond’ are not included in ‘Dead or Alive 6 Last Round’ and therefore cannot be used.” Their absence may be tied to licensing agreements, though no additional explanation was provided.
KOEI TECMO America and Team NINJA recently announced that Dead or Alive 6 Last Round will launch on June 25, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Windows PC via Steam. The release will include both a standard edition and a free-to-play version arriving on the same day.
