Warner Bros. and Apple have confirmed that F1: The Movie will debut on streaming platforms on August 22, 2025. The racing drama, which has already made box office history, will also be available on premium video-on-demand services such as Apple, Amazon, and Fandango at Home on the same date. This announcement ensures that audiences who missed the theatrical run will soon be able to experience one of the year’s biggest cinematic events from home.

The film has proven to be a commercial powerhouse since its release in late June. As of this week, F1: The Movie has reached a domestic total of approximately 180.83 million dollars, while international markets contributed an additional 397.8 million dollars. This brings the global box office to around 577.7 million dollars, making it the highest-grossing sports film of all time. Even in recent weeks, the film has continued to draw audiences, grossing an estimated 680,000 dollars on Friday across 1,172 locations, just an 11 percent dip from the previous week.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, who previously helmed Top Gun: Maverick, the film stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a veteran driver returning to Formula One after a 30-year absence. His mission is to help rescue APXGP, a struggling underdog team run by his former teammate. Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Javier Bardem also play key supporting roles, while Lewis Hamilton not only appears but serves as a producer, ensuring authenticity in the racing sequences.

Development for the project began in 2021 with Kosinski, writer Ehren Kruger, and legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer attached from the outset. Filming took place at Silverstone and other real-world Grand Prix venues during the 2023 and 2024 F1 seasons, with the cooperation of the FIA. The production incorporated actual F1 cars, teams, and drivers, blending fictional storytelling with authentic motorsport elements. The score, composed by Hans Zimmer, further anchored the high-octane atmosphere.

Premiering at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on June 16, 2025, the film launched in theaters across the United States on June 27 to largely positive reviews. It has since climbed to become the eighth-highest-grossing film of the year and the most financially successful entry in Brad Pitt’s career. With its upcoming streaming and PVOD release, the film is expected to reach an even wider audience, extending its momentum well beyond theaters.
