Fable Is Allegedly Releasing Day One On PS5, While Forza Horizon 6 “Just Wasn’t Ready” For Launch

Playground Games’ upcoming action role-playing game, Fable, is releasing day one on PS5, according to a new rumor.

During the latest episode of the VGC podcast, co-host Andy Robinson claimed that Fable is set to launch day and date on PS5 alongside Xbox and PC. This information is based on what he’s been told behind the scenes. According to him, developer Playground Games has a PS5 version of the long-awaited action role-playing game in development for quite some time.

While Robinson acknowledged that launch timing details can change late in development, he said that the PS5 version of Fable has been a known target internally for a while. In contrast, circumstances surrounding Forza Horizon 6 is a little different. Robinson explained that, based on what he was told by someone who was at Playground Games, the reason Forza Horizon 6 may not launch at the same time as Xbox and PC is that the PlayStation version “just wasn’t ready.” He admitted he doesn’t know the full story, but implied it is due to a development hurdle rather than a deliberate delay.

The discussion also touched on the sheer scale of a modern Forza Horizon launch. Releasing such a massive title simultaneously across Xbox, PC, and PlayStation would be a significant technical and organizational challenge. From that perspective, staggering the PS5 release will likely help ensure quality and stability at launch.

Robinson described the pre-release confirmation of major Xbox franchises coming to PlayStation as symbolic of the “end of an era” for the brand, in the sense that it is the conclusion of a transition toward Microsoft operating more like a third-party publisher that also happens to make its own hardware. Franchises like Forza, Halo, and Gears of War, are central to Xbox’s identity, and seeing them expand beyond console exclusivity is a major change.
