The internal reception for Sony Interactive Entertainment and Haven Studios’ upcoming multiplayer third-person shooter, Fairgames, is reportedly very positive.

During the latest episode of GI Microcast, Gameindustry.biz’s Chris Dring mentioned hearing good things about Fairgames, despite the skepticism surrounding the game’s trailer. According to him, internal chatter on the multiplayer third-person shooter has been very positive.

Dring stated that Sony Interactive Entertainment will be working with some big influencers and deliver everything needed to make a
live service hit. He said that he doesn’t envy anyone who’s working on a live service game because the market leaders in that space, particularly on consoles and PC, have been so established and have got such large audiences that they are used as social platforms.

Fairgames appears to be looking to capture the Heist multiplayer game market. Payday 3 failed to retain its player base due to technical issues and a lack of content. It’s not a highly competitive space like that of Hero shooters, and a compelling multiplayer experience can certainly work. Though, Fairgames does differ from the Payday series in that the latter is entirely a co-op experience while the former is a PvPvE game. How this will affect the game’s chances of capturing the Heist game audience remains to be seen.

Previously, we reported that Sony Interactive Entertainment had sent out a survey to those who signed up to be a part of the Fairgames community in order to help shape the game’s future. The survey email was titled, “Help shape the future of Fairgames”. As per the email, the development team at Haven Studios sought to hear about respondents and the multiplayer games, modes, and features that they enjoy. According to PlayStation, feedback from the survey will help the developer in making Fairgames a more exciting experience for the community.
